Danny Cooner,
President
Danny L. Cooner is the President of Safety First, a division of
Behavioral Health Systems, Inc. He has been with the company since 1996.
His current responsibilities include sales development and implementation
of strategic marketing plans to ensure growth of the Safety First
division. Other duties include overseeing general divisional operations
and supervision of the sales/marketing team. His 25 years of work
experience include 19 years working for a national reference laboratory
in various management-level positions.
Mr. Cooner holds a B.S. degree in Hospital Administration and is a
graduate of the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Additionally, he holds an
Associate degree in Science from Jefferson State
Junior College. He
maintains several certifications, including the American Society of
Clinical Pathologists (ASCP); the Health, Education, and Welfare (HEW)
certification for medical technology and Substance Abuse Professional
Program Administrators Certification Commission (SAPACC).
Professional activities include memberships in the Rotary Club of
Birmingham East and the Knights of Columbus.
Dr. Michael Cloyd, Medical Review Officer
Dr. Cloyd became the
Safety First Medical Review Officer (MRO) in 1991 and has played an
important role in the success of our growing Birmingham-based company.
Dr. Cloyd is a graduate of Vanderbilt
University and has three
post-graduate degrees from the University
of Alabama at Birmingham, earning his MD in 1982. He
is board-certified in Occupational Medicine and is a Fellow of The
American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine (ACOEM).
One of Birmingham's
first MROs to seek and attain certification (in
1992), Dr. Cloyd is certified by ACOEM's
Medical Review Officer Certification Council (MROCC).
Dr. Steven Allen, Medical Review Officer
Dr. Allen joined Safety First as a Medical
Review Officer in 2006. Dr. Allen
is a graduate of the University
of Alabama at Birmingham, earning his MD in 1988. He
is certified by the American
Academy of Family
Practice and served on their board in recent years.
Dr. Cheryl Szabo, Medical Review Officer
Dr. Szabo recently joined the Safety First
team to meet the growing demand of servicing Safety First clients through
the medical review officer process.
Dr. Szabo is a graduate of the University
of Wisconsin School of Medicine and has a Masters degree in Public Health
obtained through the Medical College of Wisconsin. She is board certified in Preventative
Medicine-Occupational Medicine.
Additionally, she holds a Masters degree in Business
Administration from Regis
University.
Dr. Szabo is certified as a Medical Review
Officer through the American Association of Medical Review Officers. She received recertification in 2005.
Judy McCracken,
Director of Marketing 
Mrs. McCracken has more than 30 years of
experience working in the fields of health care and substance abuse. Through the years, she has worked with
thousands of client employers assisting with the development,
implementation and management of quality drug and alcohol testing programs. She was instrumental in the creation
and development of the state of Alabama’s
first free-standing drug and alcohol treatment facility.
She is an active member of the Alabama Trucking Association Safety and
Maintenance Management Council, the Mississippi Trucking Association, the
Associated General Contractors of Alabama
and the Associated Builders and Contractors of Alabama.
Mrs. McCracken received a B.A. degree from the University of Alabama
Erle Morring, Vice President of Sales
Development
With
almost 15 years of experience in the alcohol and drug screening industry,
Mr. Morring serves as the Vice President of Sales Development for
Safety First. His responsibilities
include leading the educational and training efforts of the division
while also assisting in the development of new business.
Mr. Morring has consulted with hundreds of companies throughout the United States
helping develop policies and procedures as well as testing and
educational programs to identify and treat problems related to substance
abuse in the workplace.
He also continues to serve as a speaker for CAMPUSPEAK, Inc. and
presents educational programs to college men and women on the dangers of
hazing and substance abuse.
Mr. Morring is a member of the Associated Builders and Contractors of
Alabama Safety Committee, the Georgia Trucking Association, the
Associated General Contractors of Alabama
and the Drug and Alcohol Testing Industry
Association. He is also a
member of the Smith Lake Environmental Preservation Committee. He
received a B.A. and M.A. from Auburn
University.
Krista Ong, Director
of Operations
Ms. Ong is responsible for managing the
daily operational issues related to the Safety First division. She manages a team of employees
responsible for confidential test result reporting, generation of random
selections for employers, and general customer service related issues.
She is also the liaison to the Safety First
Medical Review Officers and is a certified Medical Review Officer
Assistant from the Medical Review Officer Certification Council.
Ms. Ong earned a B.S. degree from Auburn
University at Montgomery in 1999.
Stephanie Weems, Senior Billing Coordinator
Ms. Weems has more than a decade of experience at Safety First, having
served the division in various roles and positions throughout her
tenure. Today, her primary
responsibilities include coordinating all client, laboratory and third
party provider billing. She serves
as the primary corporate liaison to our network of SAMHSA-certified
laboratories on issues related to pricing, customer service and billing.
